SUPPORT GROUPS, CO-OPS & LEARNING CENTERS

Parent's Parlor
County Served: Parke (Fountain, Montgomery, Vermillion, Warren)
Contact Person(s): Karen McDaniel
Phone: 765.245.2150
Comments: The Parlor of our old home in Montezuma is a non-profit clearing-house where homeschool parents can find new and/or used teaching resources. Many Wabash valley neighbors use our Parlor to swap, buy & sell. Lots of freebies. We also have 'getting started' info and personal experience to share. Call/e-mail for appointment. The Parent's Parlor is a ministry to teaching parents, not a business.

E-MAIL DISCUSSION LISTS

Subscribe at IndianaHomeschoolers.com

There are several good regional and statewide e-lists for homeschoolers throughout the state of Indiana. Because of the always changing nature of many lists, it's hard to keep up with them. If you are interested in finding a more specific or focused e-list, we suggest you search YahooGroups. You might also want to ask around on the IndianaHomeschoolers List for recommendations. IndianaHomeschoolers is the largest networking e-list in the state, and the best place to find answers to most all homeschooling questions.

Web Site: http://www.parkecountychamber.com
Comments: With 32 covered bridges, Parke County, Indiana is known as the Covered Bridge Capital of the World. And from October 14 - 23, 2005, they celebrate those bridges with the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival (765.569.5226), several communities invite you to eat, shop, tour and, admire the bridges. In Mansfield Village, an 1820s roller mill and an 1867 covered bridge make it a must see visit. You'll also find hundreds of vendors here. Mecca offers handmade crafts, a one-room school, and a 1901 high school. Montezuma is where you'll find arts and crafts and a hog roast on weekends. Rosedale is filled with arts and crafts, antiques and food. In Tangier, you'll find five covered bridges, and the festival's world famous "buried roast beef." In Rockville, the festival headquarters, you can shop among huge tents of arts and crafts around the 1879 county courthouse. This is also where you'll find guided tours and great country food.
